Director of Major Gift Programs & Office Administration- CCAC Educational Foundation (Regular FT)

General Summary:
Provide strong day-to day leadership of the Foundation Office and be responsible for managing, soliciting and processing the major gift program. Provide leadership and oversight of ongoing Foundation operations and work with the Executive Director in building annual giving and major and planned giving programs. Serve as liaison between the Foundation and the College for all accounting and bookkeeping functions for the Foundation.
Job Specifications:
Bachelor's degree in communications, business, finance or related field required (master's degree preferred); and minimum five years related experience in foundation or non-profit environment. Advanced working knowledge of Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge required; experience and skill with Office software; experience with investment or endowment management preferred; excellent communication and presentation skills required.
Job Duties:
- Provide strong day-today leadership, guidance and mentorship for the Educational Foundation.
- Assist the Executive Director in strategic planning for the Foundation and developing key new initiatives and strategic relationships.
- Ensure ongoing alignment with organizational strategy, budget, financial and regulatory imperatives.
- Serve as liaison between the Foundation and the College for all accounting and bookkeeping functions for the Foundation.
- Lead and motivate Foundation staff to achieve all organizational objectives.
- Manage staff recruitment, training and enrichment; develop and refine office policies and protocols for effectiveness, efficiency and quality.
- Oversee the research and creation of grant proposals; work closely with other Foundation staff and College departments to coordinate and implement the grant process; ensure the highest levels of donor stewardship by monitoring grant progress and reporting.
- Develop and oversee the execution of all fundraising activities (annual, major, planned and capital gifts), ensuring appropriate resources to achieve goals and meet timelines within allocated budget.
- Oversee and manage donor records system (paper and electronic) utilizing Raiser's Edge; provide advanced level of guidance and support to other Raiser's Edge users.
- Ensure that the IT/database infrastructure maximizes technology to effectively anticipate needs.
- Manage relationships with consultants and vendors.
- Assure that donations are acknowledged in a timely fashion
- Assure that reports are sent to donors regarding status and use of their contributions.
- Assist the Executive Director with developing materials, written and otherwise, to promote the Foundation and College in cooperation with appropriate offices of the College.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Development Officer, Major and Planned Gifts

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Full-time dedication to calling on major/middle donors and cultivation of corporate support with the primary goal of increasing major and planned gift contributions, maintaining relationships, and advancing large donors’ commitment to the Mission.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pro-actively develop personal relationships with donors through telephone conversations, personal meetings, correspondence and soliciting prayer needs.
- Make every effort to encourage donors to learn more about the Mission by taking tours of the facilities, viewing promotional materials or having personal meetings and lunches with the Director of Development and/or the Executive Director.
- Develop a book of donors from among existing donors primarily and through prospecting.
- Determine the appropriate number of donors in the book with the Director of Development.

- Identify potential major/middle, corporate and planned giving donors through research, personal contacts and referrals, while developing and implementing a cultivation and solicitation strategy for each.
- Maintain accurate records of all strategy implementation in donor database to ensure effective follow through, evaluation, forecasting and planning.
- Development of moves management plans utilizing donor database and other applications.
- Coordinates efforts and details for securing all major/middle gifts including personal property, negotiable securities, real property and planned gifts with other LoL staff, the development team or Executive Director, as needed.
- Ensure that all major/middle, corporate donors are verbally thanked for their gifts upon receipt of such gifts, effectively utilizing the tools available and creating any necessary systematic prompting with the development team.
- Work with development team and Director of Development to customize and personalize major/middle donor acknowledgements to promote the highest level of loyalty and satisfaction among major/middle donors.
- Develop and implement new ways to educate and show appreciation to donors.
- Cultivate and solicit financial contributions from corporations that have already contributed.
- Develop and execute strategies to maintain and upgrade relationships with corporations.
- Development of financial and non-financial gifts from corporations by keeping them informed of volunteer opportunities, special events and touring Mission facilities.
- Assists in the coordination of capital campaign efforts as determined by the Director of Development, actively seeks funding for capital budget items through personal solicitation of major gifts.
- Coordinate all correspondence related to major/middle and planned giving donor communication efforts, through letters, telephone, email, etc.
- Make every effort to increase knowledge and keep up to date on current trends of major/middle gift and planned giving fundraising, by attending professional training and seminars, and reading appropriate trade journals.
- Communicate and coordinate priorities, workload, problems and progress to the Director of Development on a regular basis.
- Develop goals, priorities and timelines on a regular basis, ensuring timely and efficient execution of all related tasks.
- Execute other development functions as assigned by the Director of Development.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Committed Christian with a stewardship mindset, able to exercise compassion and discernment.
- Exceptional relationship building skills and working knowledge of consultative approach to solicitation.
- Resourceful and dependable, able to plan and execute cultivation strategies.
- Computer literate: working knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Working knowledge of donor databases; experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus.
- Willing and able to travel local area extensively to cultivate donor relationships.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Highly reliable and trustworthy, able to maintain confidentiality.
- Committed to the mission and values of LOL, exercising compassion and functioning within Ministry as a team player.
- Knowledge of issues pertaining to addiction, homelessness, and/or mentally ill preferred.
- Willingness to participate in public speaking engagements on behalf of LoL.

PERFORMANCE PROFILE

It is essential that the Director of Development have the ability to lead a professional staff, listen to the needs of constituents and ask for financial support of the programs and services of Auberle. The successful Director of Development will fully commit to the mission of Auberle, create and execute a development plan in line with organizational goals and interface with various sectors of the community to invite participation in the mission of Auberle.
ORGANIZATION
Since 1952, Auberle has been dedicated to the mission of helping abused, neglected and troubled children and families throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania. To serve the needs of the community, Auberle offers:

- community-based drug and alcohol treatment
- community based mental health programs
Winner of the 2006 Alfred W. Wishart Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management, Auberle is headquartered in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and is a multi-site agency with over 290 staff serving nearly 1,600 individuals each year. Auberle has an annual budget of $13,000,000 and provides services for 10 counties in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Development will lead the efforts of fundraising, volunteer management, and marketing and communications. Project management, financial acumen and highly developed interpersonal skills are critical to the position. The Director of Development reports to the Chief Executive Officer and supervises a staff of four full-time and two part-time professionals. The position will support the development efforts of a dedicated and involved Board of Directors and base of volunteers. Last year, the Development Department successfully raised over $2.5 million.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
- Create a Comprehensive Development Plan: During the first 60 days, create an energetic Development Plan that utilizes performance metrics. Auberle currently has a Strategic Plan in place, thus, the Development Plan is to connect with and complement the overall direction of the organization. The plan is to include the status of current development efforts, recommendations, implementation strategies, financial expectations and critical target dates. Present the Plan to the Chief Executive Officer. Execute the plan with the development team.
- Lead and Inspire the Development Team. Guided by the development plan, meet regularly with the development staff to measure progress, inspire creativity and provide learning opportunities. Routinely visit the values of the organization and ensure that staff and efforts are consistent with them.
- Identify, Cultivate, Solicit and Acknowledge Participation in the Mission. Using advanced methods of prospecting, identify new relationships including donors, volunteers and others that may benefit from the services of Auberle. Manage the contact management database. Implement development best practices with the research, solicitation and acknowledgement of gifts from individuals, groups, corporations and foundations. Support the efforts of volunteer managed special events.
- Establish and Sustain Internal and External Relationships. Manage relationships professionally. Seek out opportunities to share and disseminate information internally and externally as appropriate. Benchmark progress of the department with the CEO and Executive Team on a regular basis. The Director of Development must have excellent verbal and electronic communication ability.
- Administer Policies and Procedures. Manage the budget. Review and create departmental guidelines as needed. Perform organizational functions as required. Seek opportunities to become involved in the mission-centered programs of Auberle.
- Participate in Agency Planning. Offer creative insight to the short and long term planning of the overall organization.
- Lead and Follow as Needed.
EXPERIENCE
The Director of Development needs to have past experience, 5 to 10 years, in:
- Fundraising, marketing, sales or business
- Managing staff and budgets
- Performance-based organizations
- Mission-based environments
Act 33/34 clearances are required.
